Dead Acres (best known as The Haunted Hoochie) Dead Acres was voted one of America's top 13 haunted events by "Haunt World" magazine. Hauntedhousetour.com describes the Haunted Hoochie as a "...sensory overload and in-your-face type of haunt." Location: 13861 E. Broad St. SW, Pataskala. Open: October 25-27 and 29-31; it runs 8:30 p.m. to midnight on Thursday and 8:30 p.m. until the line is gone on the weekends. Tickets: $15, or a VIP pass to skip the line is $25. Parking is $12.

The Haunted Ship The ship is a replica of Christopher Columbus' flag ship, the Santa Maria. It's great for families or those who might not enjoy some of the other haunted houses. Location: Battelle Riverfront Park, 25 Marconi Blvd.,Columbus. Open: October 25-27; it runs 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets: $5

House of Nightmares The House of Nightmares moved from Mount Vernon to downtown Columbus this year in the Brewery District. Location: 477 S. Front St.,Columbus. Open: October 25-28 and 31; it runs 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays and most weekdays. Tickets: $15 and a VIP pass for a shorter wait is $20.

Terror Park This Haunted House is located at Cooper Stadium, home of our minor league baseball team the Columbus Clippers. Flashlight tours are also available to see what goes on behind the scenes without the scares. Location: 1155 West Mound St., Columbus. Open: October 25-27; it runs 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and 7:30 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday. Tickets: $13, or a VIP pass to skip the line is $20. Parking is $3. Haunted Prison Experience Located at the old state reformatory in Mansfield, some claim the prison is truly haunted. Many famous films have been shot there, including "The Shawshank Redemption." Location: 100 Reformatory Rd., Mansfield. Open: October 25-28 and 29-31; it runs 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday and Halloween, 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets: $15
