No, Otterbein isn’t a traditional party school, but campus might be more active for Halloween weekend than people think.
A recent Otterbein360 survey conducted through SurveyMonkey and Facebook showed that 67 percent of the 59 respondents reported that they will be celebrating on campus this weekend. However, 31 percent reported that they will be celebrating at another school.
Some students will be doing both as one respondent answered, “Otterbein one night, OSU another night.”
The remaining respondents answered that they will not be celebrating until next weekend or they do not celebrate it at all.
One student wrote, “I will also be celebrating next weekend—if you buy a costume you might as well get your money’s worth and wear it twice.”
For many it will be a game time decision. One respondent said, “I am not sure. Wherever my friends go I will (go).”
While the survey made no indication of celebrations including alcohol, several students anonymously responded to the survey emphasizing their style of celebration.
“Getting really, really drunk,” wrote one respondent.
However, not every student will be using the holiday as an excuse to drink alcohol.
“I like to keep it low key, just a handful of good friends, funny costumes, and a few laughs,” said Drew Markley.
