Who doesn’t love a good sandwich? Well lucky for Westerville, Salumeria is coming to Uptown.
Salumeria will house three different sections: a deli, a marketplace and a pub.
“We will only have 10-15 sandwiches and items on the menu. For example, while you’re waiting on your two pounds of Black Forest Ham, you can sit and have a nice sandwich,” Salumeria co-owner, Mario Nedelkoski, said.
Salumeria will have an American/European take on deli meats and cheeses.
“We are going to smoke our own meats, import various cheeses and brew our own beer,” Nedelkoski said. “I think what will make Salumeria different is that nearly everything will be in-house and authentic. Salumeria is going to have a lot of character.”
Nedelkoski is very optimistic about the opening of Salumeria.
“I’ve been hearing a lot of excitement and I’ve been getting a lot of encouragement about the deli,” Nedelkoski said. “For instance, today during lunch three people were asking me questions about Salumeria. I’m always being asked about it. People are excited for something new and different.”
Since Issue 55 passed in November 2011, Salumeria will have a carry-out liquor license, the closest liquor carry-out to Otterbein’s dry campus.
“I definitely think Otterbein will help. Sales from Otterbein will help keep Salumeria operating,” Nedelkoski said.
While the people of Westerville are ready for the opening, Salumeria is just in the beginning stages. The business has been in the process of permit approval from the City of Westerville. Once the permits are approved and the prints are finalized with the architect, everything will move quickly.
Salumeria is scheduled to open in spring of 2013.
