Senior special education major Annie Juenger returns to the Otterbein volleyball team for the 2013 season as a three-year letterwinner. Juenger excelled in the OAC Tournament Championship last year with 14 kills, 11 digs and four service aces. As well as being part of the championship team, Juenger was named honorable mention All-OAC and Academic All-OAC for the 2012 season.
This year, Juenger leads the OAC in kills as she continues her success on the court. But with all these prestigious awards and achievements, Juenger still finds time to be a normal college senior off the court.
Q: What’s in your iPod?
A: I have music from the ’40s that my dad and I listen to, and I also have country. But I like rap to get me pumped up for the games.
Q: What’s one thing you can’t go a day without?
A: It sounds cheesy, but I couldn’t go a day without interacting with my friends. I need to interact with friends, especially my housemates, since most of them play volleyball with me.
Q: If you could have dinner with one person, past or present, who would it be and why?
A. Luke Bryan. He’s extremely attractive and I think it’d be fun to go out and just get to know him.
Q: What’s the last movie you saw and how many stars would you give it?
A: Actually, we just watched a movie on the bus. It was the movie Pitch Perfect. I’d give it five out of five. It makes me feel like I could join an a capella group even though I can’t sing.
Q: If you were an ice cream flavor what would you be and why?
A: Black raspberry chip because Graeter’s is my favorite, and Graeter’s originated from Cincinnati. So since that’s where I grew up, I feel like Greater’s is a good choice.
Q: Cats or dogs?
A: I’m a cat person. I had two cats when I was younger, and their names were Tom and Jerry.
Q: How did you start playing volleyball?
A: It’s one of those things where I started playing in the third grade just trying it out. I singled out volleyball in high school and then club. I ended up playing year round.
Q: What’s your idea of a perfect date?
A. My perfect date would be something low key and chill. If we were to go fishing or just hang out, even a random road trip would be nice. I’m not a “take out to dinner” type. Maybe something original.
Q: What’s your guilty pleasure?
A. I’m a sap for the corny, old-school romantic movies. Even like the original Disney movies from our childhood. When they’re on TV, I just have to sit down and watch them.
Q: Right now, what’s in your purse?
A: I have a ton of student teaching stuff from teaching a 3rd grade class. I’ve got lesson plans on soil and rocks. I have a coffee cup because I live off coffee.
Q: Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montana?
A: I love the new Miley. I think she’s so badass. She does what she wants and doesn’t care what people think. I say, “Good for her, you go girl.”
