The kickoff to fall break is this weekend, giving students a short-lived freedom from classes, homework and the endless obligations that school brings. But with only two days off of school, what is there to do other than binge-watch Netflix in a comfortable pair of pajamas?
Whether staying on campus for break or traveling back home, there are plenty of fall-related activities to conquer during the short break from classes
1. Go play zombie paintball
It’s a bit of a drive, but SplatterPark is a paintball park in Mount Gilead, Ohio, that offers zombie paintball. The park is open Friday and Saturday nights. Take a hayride through the woods of the park while shooting at zombies with a paintball gun.
2.Visit a pumpkin patch or fall-related farm
Freeman’s Farm is located in Galena, Ohio, just six miles from Otterbein. Oct. 11 and 12 are part of the farm’s Fall Festival activities. Along with pumpkins, the Fall Festival includes a campfire, a concession area, a demonstration on making apple butter, kettle corn popping, a country market, a petting zoo and hayrides.
3.Find the best pumpkin treat in Westerville
Whether it’s a latte from Java Central or pumpkin bread from Starbucks, determine which place in town has the best pumpkin concoction. If you find it, tell us on Twitter @Otterbein360.
4. Learn how to become a master chef of one fall-inspired recipe -- anything pumpkin related counts.
Try Paula Deen’s recipe for pumpkin pie or this recipe for cinnamon apple bread.
5. Get a head start planning a Halloween costume
The nearest Spirit Halloween Superstore is located in the Kohl’s Plaza near uptown Westerville, and Party City is located on Polaris Parkway.
6. Visit a haunted house
The ScareAtorium is located four miles from campus, on Northland Plaza Drive. The Haunted Hoochie is located in Pataskala, Ohio, and claims to be “the world’s most extreme haunted house.”
