Men's soccer team prepares for OAC tournament with new head coach

Men's soccer team finished regular season and prepares for OAC tournament

The men's soccer team finished their regular season after a 1-0 victory over Mount Union on October 28th. This week the team is preparing for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) tournament that's set to be played on Thursday November 2nd at 7 pm.

The team Otterbein will play is still to be determined due to Otterbein receiving a bye in the first round. Heidleberg will by playing Capital and Marietta will be playing Ohio Northern on Tuesday October 31st. Otterbein will be playing the lowest remaining seeded team in the tournament on Thursday November 2nd at 7pm.

Last year the team went 8-7-3 overall. This year the team went 15-2-0 overall under the direction of first year head coach Jason Griffiths. Griffiths was optimistic for the team after their opening home game victory on September 2nd, but he went into the game with many new expectations for the team.

“I wanted to change a lot, but I did it little by little. We started in spring and the guys have adapted to my coaching style,” said Griffiths.

The players could immediately see a change.

“The atmosphere in the locker room is completely different, we get there early and are more comfortable and prepared” said Juan Rivas, junior midfielder.
