Otterbein’s art department offers more than 10 concentrations for art majors. The two most popular concentrations are photography and communication design.
Otterbein sophomore Elissa Stratton explains her interests in advertising which led her to study communication design and integrated digital media. In her communication design class she redesigned an album cover. The process began with an initial sketch then moved to computer software programs where she generated 10 layout options.
The art department prepares students for a variety of jobs in unusual settings according to associate professor Jim Bowling. Bowling mentions careers in photography along with working in a recreation center or a museum.
