Otterbein football team hopes to bring energy this season with young team

The Cardinals are looking to be in the top half of the conference with a young team, after losing nine OAC all-conference players

Otterbein's football team is looking for big wins this season with a fresh team, after losing 9 OAC all-conference players from last season.

Head Coach Tim Doup said he sees a big difference in this group because they have been waiting their turn. Doup hopes their energy will lead the team to a victory in their first game against Ohio Wesleyan on Sept. 1.

Coming off of a 6-4 record season, the Cardinals are hoping to stay in the top half of the conference.

Dassan Jefferson,  senior defensive back, is one of many players ready to lead the new team. “It’s great being able to coach these guys," said Jefferson. "The young guys coming in are great, they like to listen. They are ready to fight.”

The Cardinals have been working to improve offense and defense since last season. Defensively, Doup said it is critical that the secondary give up less passing yards. Offensively, the goal is to run the ball and open up more passes.
