Otterbein sports has triumphant weekend

Softball, tennis and lacrosse all win over Heidelberg in conference action

Otterbein sports had a busy weekend in conference action. Most teams were victorious in their respective contests.

The softball team swept a doubleheader against Heidelberg by scores of 10-0 and 4-3. Alyson Shaw helped the Cards secure the sweep with a walk-off home run in game two. Gabby Johnson earned both pitching wins of the day. The team sits at 14-10 overall and 6-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).

Otterbein baseball split a doubleheader with Heidelberg. The Cardinals won game one 11-8 and dropped the second game at 6-1. In the game one victory, Johnny Putnam recorded his third pitching win of the season, improving to 3-1. Tim Snyder led the Cards offensively with four runs driven in. They are now 12-10 on the season and 4-2 in OAC play.

Men’s and women’s tennis both won in convincing fashion over Heidelberg (9-0). The men’s team is now 12-1 and 3-0 in conference play. Women’s tennis is 11-2 on the year with a 2-0 OAC record. 

Both Otterbein lacrosse teams won over Heidelberg. 

Men’s lacrosse won by a score of 19-5, outscoring Heidelberg 11-2 in the second half to help secure a convincing win. The Cardinals are 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference. 

Women’s lacrosse won 11-9 in a home contest. Abby Smoot led all scoring with five goals to help Otterbein win. The team improves to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the league. 

Both track and field teams had a successful weekend competing in a variety of meets.
