Otterbein student-athletes will be able to start competition once classes resume in the spring semester, after delaying the start of seasons due to COVID-19.
For football, the OAC strategically spilt the conference into two divisions: east and west. Baldwin Wallace, John Carroll, Marietta, Mount Union and Muskingum will be the schools of the east. As for the west, it will include Capital, Heidelberg, Ohio Northern, Wilmington and Otterbein.
Otterbein football will start their season on Friday, March 12 at Ohio Northern. They are scheduled to play ONU and the three other teams of the east division on Friday nights at 7 p.m. The scheduling is very different compared to last year, as Otterbein played all of their games on Saturdays, usually during the afternoon.
The Otterbein volleyball team will start their season March 12 as well, but at Mount Union. They will play double-headers every Tuesday and Friday night against different teams within the OAC. Two games against the nine different teams within the conference will add up to an 18-game regular season with the OAC Tournament starting on April 13.
The Otterbein men’s and women’s soccer teams will play one game against each team within the OAC, adding up to nine games this season. Both teams will play their games on Sunday’s and Thursday’s over a span of four weeks.
As for Otterbein golf, the men’s and women’s schedule has not yet been released, but according to head coach Brian Booher the OAC Championship will be held on May 1 and 2.
The women’s and men’s tennis teams will start their spring season on Saturday, March 27. Both Otterbein teams will play each team in the conference one time, resulting in a 9-match season. The OAC Tournament will start on May 4 and will finish May 8.
Both of Otterbein’s cross-country teams had their season canceled entirely by the OAC, according to head coach Dara Ford.
