Otterbein football looks to build off experience gained last season

Fifteen of the twenty-two starters return for the Cardinals this year

After a tough 2021 season and the team pulling out a victory against cross-town rival Capital University, Assistant Head Coach Allan Moore is excited for fall practice with the new class of recruits.

"We are expecting 40 new students to join the team to go along with the 80-85 we already have," Moore said. "We are confident about the fall, I think there's a lot of potential here. After we lost a couple of tight games last year, we just have to get over that hump and get that confidence and belief that we can achieve a better outcome."

Moore was pleased with what he saw coming from his team this past spring and said he was looking forward to the fall. "As a bunch of freshmen out there, we were always close, we’ve just got to develop and gain confidence," Moore said.

"The team has done a great job in the weight room this off-season so far, they are doing the things that are being asked of them. Now it’s just putting the plan in motion. It’s been good to get back to normal."

The football team’s season kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Ohio Wesleyan University, while their first home game occurs on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 12 p.m. as they go head-to-head with Heidelberg University.
