Otterbein volleyball looks to carry over last year's success

A Sweet 16 trip from last year has Otterbein volleyball ready to start again

Volleyball wrapped up the 2021 season with a 25-6 overall record and 7-2 within the OAC. Assistant coach Josie Andres said, "We did pretty well coming off of COVID season, we came out as the runner-up conference champs so we have big expectations coming into the fall. Throughout last season, we set records on how many sets we won in a row and how many matches we won in a row for our program. Sets in a row was a record throughout the OAC and then we ended up making it the furthest our program ever had, going to the Sweet 16."

Otterbein was one win shy from heading into the quarter-finals of the NCAA Division III Championship. After losing two seniors on the team, summer recruiting saw the volleyball team gain 10 new players, totaling 22-23 on the roster for the 2022 season.

"We have a lot of expectations come fall, we are really excited," Andres said.

The team begins the season ranked 17th in the national polls.

Otterbein’s volleyball team starts off their season with a home game against Ohio Wesleyan on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m.
