Local nutrition spot has Otterbein students fueled up for the first semester

Uptown Nutrition, a local nutrition cafe & bar, has most of Otterbein’s students promoting and enjoying what it has to offer to the community.

In uptown Westerville, a recently opened store has been the talk of Otterbein’s student body for most of this fall semester. Uptown Nutrition is a local nutrition bar that offers refreshments such as protein shakes, iced coffee and energy drinks along with positive vibes for all its customers.

Olivia Sherwood, the owner of Uptown Nutrition, is a young entrepreneur focused on being a positive influence through her health coaching career.

“I worked at a similar place in high school in my hometown, and I didn’t fully understand what I know now, but working more and more, I learned about things like good nutrition and protein, and how these supplements provide those needs," Sherwood said. Spreading positivity in each cup, while also providing a space to learn and relax is at the forefront of her messaging.

Sherwood has used her health training in nutrition and her products to lose weight and gain a sense of a healthy mindset for herself; she has also spread this teaching to her own family and helped her loved ones to both shed pounds and learn about the importance of proper nutrition.

One thing that Sherwood noted was the impact of Westerville, and more importantly Otterbein University, on the up-and-coming business, which opened July 8. Being around the same age as college students, she feels a sense of community through the university and its people.

“It’s cool for me to be around people my age, and that’s different from some of my other locations which is super cool, especially meeting many different students and student-athletes personally," Sherwood said. “After three visits, I feel like I personally know my customers”.

Uptown Nutrition plans to continue doing more promotions and events for the local community and student body. One of the ideas for an upcoming event is a “sample party” where people can come and try different shakes or teas. There are also promotional items every month to keep an eye out for as well.

For more information, the nutrition bar is located at 100 S. State St. and can be reached at their Instagram or website with menus included here
