The Otterbein men's and women's tennis team has been putting in the work this fall to get ready for the end of the season where they hope to be at the top of the OAC in the spring.
The women had finished first in the regular season and the men's finished third for the 2023 season. Tyler Stephen leads both the women's and men's tennis team and is a three-time OAC coach of the year. He is in his ninth year of coaching at Otterbein.
The main area the teams are working on this season is confidence.
“We will continue to work on confidence in singles play and positive energy throughout the match," Stephen said. "These will be essential to our success this fall and in 2025." He also said their goal for this season is, “to be at the top of our conference and get the most of our potential."
Aubrey McMahon, a senior allied health major on the women's team talked about how the team will finish up this fall season for the main spring season. “In the off season, we all will stay on top of making sure that we are still hitting. Being a senior, I want to leave it all out on the court this year and bring home another OAC conference champion title,” McMahon said.
The women's team has many strong players. Veteran Erin Storrer is coming back for her fifth year and is also a four-time OAC player of the year. Stephen also said that senior Lillia Walter, has been a big asset to the team for the past three years.
“Both of them, in addition with other strong seniors will be invaluable on the girl's side, especially with leadership,” Stephen said.
The women's team had finished their Dennison Invitational on Sept. 22 and secured a win at the ITA invitational at Kalamazoo on Sept. 27. The men’s team is looking forward to working hard for their next matches having completed their Kenyon Invitational.
